QUALIFICATIONS TO BE RECOGNIZED AS FLY FISHER OF THE YEAR

• Someone who stands out in your mind as an all-around representative of fly fishing and the club in general. Is there a person who when you see them makes you think of the club or fly fishing

• Does this person make you smile and feel good about fly-fishing?

• This person should certainly be a representative of the fly fishing values we hold close. Such as conservation, river etiquette, good fish stewardship and teaching and promoting fly fishing to all.

• Not only practicing these values but willing to take time and teach them. You know the person we are talking about, that person that stops you on the water, takes time to chat and answer any questions you might have.

• That person that engages you at the shop or on the river with a smile and points you in the right direction.

• Do you know someone who has been more than happy to loan you rods or reels, handed you one of their “Hot” flies or just encouraged you with positive feedback?

• Someone that has helped you with a knot you have struggled with or that casting stroke that is giving you trouble.

• Is there a club member who answers all your question about where to fish or what flies to use, whether it’s through email or in person?

  We are looking to honor that person who makes you feel good, makes you smile about fly fishing and the club. That one person who in 2019, made your fly-fishing experience just that much more enjoyable. And when you see that person, you immediately smile and think, “I want to share water with that person”

Anybody qualifies for this award, they only need be a club member in good standing. Past recipients are encouraged and qualifies for this award each year. So, we encourage you to take a few minutes and think about your past years fly-fishing adventures and if there was anyone that added to that experience. This is a “feel good” award, so enjoy your reminiscing of the past year.
