Special Regulation Sign Project

A collaborative effort with the Forest Service for new special regulation signage at  five trail heads to the Kern and Little Kern rivers produced two new designs. The current signage at Johnsondale Bridge were designed by club members from the Kern River Fly Fishers and the SSFFC.  The new signs still incorporate the previous design, including the Spanish text and map, but will feature the Native Kern River Rainbow as part of an education effort to the general public.

Monofilament tubes project

The Sequoia National Forest announced an approval of the Monofilament Recovery Tubes. This was brought to the Southern Sierra Fly Fishers attention by the Federation of Fly Fishers. These tubes will be placed at different locations throughout the Upper Kern. If you find monoflilament in the river, put it in your pocket or vest and then put it in the tubes when you are done fishing. The Southern Sierra Fly Fishers will take care of the monofilament, which will be dropped off at the Kern River Fly Shop and sent to Berkeley (The Company) for recycling.
