California Fly Fishing Open

One of our many goals as a fly fishing club is to give back to the community. We created the California Fly Fishing Open with the hope of building stronger ties with fishy fly fishing folks while also giving back to such an amazing community. Profits from the 2017 tournament fees were donated to Casting for Recovery SoCal and Project Healing Waters.

We had an amazing turnout for our 1st annual tournament and we hope that next year is just as fun! We are already in the process of planning for next year's tournament so stay tuned! Until then, enjoy some of the pictures from this year's event.

The Kern is a very tough river and the flows being high have made it even tougher. Bumping the bottom with overweighted caddis and stonefly variations and approaching with stealth is the best way to fool the fish in there. A river that size in Southern California is intimidating so a game plan is important. —Terrence T

2017 Largest Fish Winner

19" Rainbow

I fished oxygenated deeper water. Get the fly down there fast. It seemed patterns didn't matter, it was the presentation.
