The Kings offers many the same types of water as the Kern and other Sierra streams. There is ample pocket water to drift Nymphs through or to dredge the bottom while “high sticking”. There are plenty of long swift runs to swing streamers through with your “Trout Spey”
If the weather allows, there will be good BWO and Caddis hatches going off. Very educated sippers will challenge your presentation skills. Think ZERO drag, long 15’ Harvey Slack Line leader systems work well here. 6x or 7x tippets will be necessary as the fish get more educated. Down stream drift is a
must to consistently catch the sippers. I like a 5wt 9’ to throw nymphs under a bobber. The fish can be very large and hard to land on anything smaller than a 5wt. I use an 8’6” 4wt for my dry fly fishing.
