Bernard and Rebecca recap a multi-day volunteer outing with the Inyo National Forest Service, in collaboration with the Southwest Council of FFI, into the Golden Trout Wilderness. Basically, years ago a fence was put in place to keep livestock out, allowing the willows to recover around the stream (helping the golden trout habitat), and the time had come to clear it out.

Meadow Restoration Volunteer Opp July 16-20, 2023

Got time and energy? We’ve teamed up again with Debbie Sharpton of the SWCFFI for meadow restoration work in the Golden Trout Wilderness from July 16-20. Along with Egan Cornachione, Rangeland Management Specialist for Inyo National Forest, and some pack mules, we will be removing approximately 2 mile perimeter fencing of mostly 3 strands barb wire plus T-posts/wooden braces in Ramshaw Meadows.

Team Up with SWCFFI to Clean Up Malibu Creek

“It takes a village to raise a steelhead,” they say. Okay, they is me and no one says that… yet. But the greatest feats of conservation are never accomplished alone, so you get the point. With that in mind, Debbie Sharpton and Southwest Council Fly Fishers International Conservation are and will be doing valuable work for the endangered Southern Steelhead by cleaning out invasive species in Malibu Creek, and we are teaming up with them to get the word and the folks out.
