Ring of the Rise now Public

Hi everyone,

The board has decided to make our SSFF newsletter public. We were struggling with members forgetting their passwords and not accessing it plus, Gary Silveira produces a stellar newsletter!

The next three months the Ring of the Rise will be sent to all current and past members.  Please take time to review or inquire about your membership being current. The website makes it easier to renew but it's a challenge with our everchanging renewal date. This year, April 5 at the Rendezvous.  It would be a great for our new membership chair Amy Kileen to have the opportunity to be caught up by the the Vouz.  Thank you for supporting the Southern Sierra Fly Fishers!

Enjoy!

Ring of the Rise - January 2014

Cast it forward,

Shane Goslin

Lower Owens Outing Feb. 22/23

IMGP2004[1]Feb. 22 and 23 are the weekend dates for the SSFFC February Outing to Lower Owens.  Our Outings Chair, Chris, has assigned me to head up this outing.  Based upon recent reports, it’s shaping up to be very good conditions.  Traditionally, we’ve met for breakfast Saturday morning.  I’m thinking of meeting at 7:00 am at:

Petite Pantry   2278 North Sierra Highway Bishop

It’s right next to Sierra Trout Magnet Fly Shop.  The great Buhler Brothers, Rob and Ryan have offered help to anyone needing assistance in fishing the Lower O.  A big thanks goes out to them again for helping the Club.  Based upon their recent report, they really know this water.

After a fun day of fly fishing, let’s meet at 6:00 pm at the Pizza Factory 970 N. Main Street Bishop. The Club will be sponsoring our pizza dinner, while we swap tall tales of the day’s adventure.

Sue and I went 2 years ago on this outing and had a BLAST!  We’re both looking forward to another fun adventure.  I hope many of you can make this outing.   If anyone is interested in what a fun time we had 2 years ago here's my post from back then:

I'm trying to get Allen bell on this years outing, again.   ;D  We always have a fun time.  🙂

Thanks, Chiaki

2014 RendezVous Date – April 5

Vous 2012Hi Everyone,
The 2014 Rendezvous date will be the weekend of April 5th. held at Frandy's again.  Freddy from the Fresno Club will be cooking up some great grub, just like last year and Guy Jeans and the Stoneflys will be providing the great music, just like last year.  More details will follow but I wanted everyone to reserve this weekend for our fun event.

Please participate; you'll have a great time.  This is our Club's big annual fund raiser and membership drive.  We moved the date to the spring, so that the water will be cooler and the fishing better.  We will have our C&R Tourney, river cleanup, casting contest, rod swap, raffles, auctions, BBQ dinner and entertainment.  ALWAYS A FUN TIME!!!.

We'll be setting up on-line applications in the next few weeks.  Beverly, at Frandy’s is ready to take your camping reservations.

See you there.

Thanks,
Chiaki

SSFFC Jan 11th Fly Tying Class & Truckee River Guest Speaker

The Buhler brothers are teaching one of their epic fly tying classes, January 11, 2014. Plus, we're having a guest speaker featuring the Truckee River. Wow, a great day of learning and friends.

We would accommodate beginning to advanced tyers covering all the basics for beginners having you tying flies that catch fish before the end of class while touching on advanced techniques for experienced tyers from quill and biot bodies to spinning deer hair.

The classes are very laid back and stress free with an opportunity to meet other club members and improve or start on your tying skills.
Currently seven tiers are signed up and we looking for beginners too!

Thank you,
